Video games are a perfect medium to explore bisexuality. Most are driven by player’s choice, and what better way to explore choices than to choose who to smooch regardless of their gender. Some games like to simply mention that the main character is Bi, while others literally give you a huge pool of characters to make the bed get squeaky with.
With that in mind, here are my favorite Bi characters in gaming in no specific order. These are CANON bisexual characters, there is no discussion to be had with idiots on the internet.
Byleth - Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Byleth is so babygirl for real. After being a mercenary for most of her life, decided to become a professor and even take down the church. She is also extra representation for being a shy, silent, blue-haired Bi woman, who can simultaneously kick your ass and kill your entire army.
You literally can’t say her name without “Bi”. 10/10
Max Caulfield - Life is Strange
Max is such a good bisexual, super into photography and indie music. She finds out she’s into girls by falling in love with her childhood best friend she hadn’t seen in 10 years, who turned into a weed-smoking, hair dyeing, punk lesbian who says “wowzer” unironically. And you know what? good for her.
There is no heterosexual explanation for that train track scene. 10/10
Kassandra - Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey
Kassandra said you can’t say biceps without “bi”. On her quest to reunite with her family, she embarks on a long odyssey across the Greek islands and meets a long cast of characters, many you can get freaky with.
Talk about a bi woman who slays, figuratively and literally. 10/10
Rhajat and Niles - Fire Emblem: Fates
An obsessed mage and a horny archer? Tell me something more bisexual than that. 10/10
Alex Chen - Life is Strange: True Colors
Life is Strange is a really good series if you’re Bi. Alex here is great representation for her taste in indie music (a series staple), quirky laugh, love for denim jackets and LARPing.
She is so canonically bisexual that you have the choice to romance two very attractive people, very up-front. And when you finally kiss one of them, you literally explode with joy. 10/10
Baldur’s Gate III
Just, like, the entire game. This game is so bisexually charged that it’s hard to put into words. It’s like the developers could only see pink, blue and purple while writing and designing the playable characters.
They might have their differences, and try to kill each other constantly, but they all want to explore each other’s bodies. 10/10
Vamp - Metal Gear Solid 2
When he was just a kid, he lost his family to a terrorist bomb that went off in a church they were attending. His body pierced by a crucifix, Vamp was buried under the rubble for two days before he was rescued. During those two days, he survived by feeding on the blood of his family to quench his thirst. That is where he acquired a taste for blood.
That’s not why they call him Vamp though, it’s because he’s bisexual. 10/10
Procedurally-generated Bisexuals - Watch Dogs: Legion
It was impossible to list Bi characters without mentioning the literal infinite numbers of Bi NPCs Watch Dogs: Legion creates for you to interact and play with. The game has a “play as anyone” mechanic that allows you to literally play as any NPC. It’s literally a bisexual making machine.
That might not affect a single thing the world, but hey! they’re here! and they can hack your bank account. 10/10
Jacob Frye - Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate
The Assassin’s Creed series produces a lot of bisexuals. Some of the recent games, due to the nature of how they’re “player driven”, you get to choose who to romance and bang. Not with Jacob, he just has a flirty personality but gets no romance options. He’s one of those characters that feels bisexual even if the narrative doesn’t really mention it directly…
But hey! the developer confirmed it so it’s no longer a headcanon, and I’m happy with that 10/10
Zagreus - Hades
Only one thing is true: in hell, everyone is bisexual. And who better to show that off than Zagreus. In-between runs, you can befriend with a wide array of characters. And, well, those friendships can come with benefits.
Also, that Zagreus hair flip used on trailers? that is bisexuality 10/10
You
Yes, YOU! If you do a self-insert character or create an OC that is literally you. Congrats, they’re Bi too. Some games, like Stardew Valley, let you chose who to marry within a cast of characters, but even if there are no romance options, if that character looks like you and has your name, that’s you! You can be bi in the pokemon universe if you want, who gives a shit, is Tsunekazu Ishihara gonna show up in your house and tell you otherwise? I don’t think so. Be bi in pokemon.
The bisexuals per game metric is increasing rapidly. By 2041, it’s expected that all video game characters will be bisexual. Yes, even Mario.
Happy Pride/Gamer Month!
I was so worried you weren't going to include my close personal friend Zagreus, but you did. Happy Pride Month!!
